PRS for Music represents the rights of 100,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers, and is part of an international network of collecting societies. It is one of the largest societies in Europe and has been in operation since 1914.
Members are paid royalties when their music is used in a number of ways: when it is recorded onto any format and distributed to the public; performed or played in public; broadcast; or made publicly available online.
PRS for Music has proudly sponsored the Ivor Novello Awards since 1974 and each year title sponsors three accolades at the ceremony; the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award, the Most Performed Work Award and the Special International Award.
