BASCA, the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, is one of the largest professional associations for music writers and exists to support, protect and campaign for the interests of British songwriters, lyricists and composers in the United Kingdom, as well as the EU. We are an entirely self-funding, not-for-profit membership organisation and rely on the continuing support of our members to carry out our work.
BASCA created and owns the Ivor Novello Awards.
We split our members into standard members, professional members, friends to BASCA and digital members who all pay an annual membership fee to help fund the organisation.
BASCA‘s mission statement is; ‘BASCA exists to support and protect the artistic, professional, commercial and copyright interests of songwriters, lyricists and composers of all genres of music to celebrate and encourage excellence in British music writing’.
