About The Ivors

BASCA in association with PRS for Music will present the 63rd Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday 31st May 2018 at the Grosvenor House, London.

The Ivors celebrate, honour and reward excellence in songwriting and composing. Created by BASCA in 1956, they are named in honour of Ivor Novello, Britain’s most successful and distinguished theatrical composer at the time, and represent the pinnacle of musical achievement and peer recognition in the music industry.

The Ivors have been sponsored by PRS for Music since 1974.The awards fullfil one of BASCA’s key aims to celebrate excellence and promote songwriting and composing.  The awards are governed by the Ivor Novello Awards Committee, which itself is a sub committee of the BASCA board. In addition to the Ivor Novello Award Committee each nominated award category, with the exception of PRS for Music Most Performed Work, is judged by separate juries, which are entirely populated by songwriters and composers.

2018 Timetable

BASCA accepts entries in the following categories: Best Song Musically and Lyrically, Best Contemporary Song, Album Award, Best Original Film Score, Best Television Soundtrack, Best Original Video Game Score. Entries are made via the BASCA Award Entry Site. The deadline for Entries is Friday 9th February 2018.

Judging Period Begins from 26th February 2018.

Nominated songwriters and composers will be confidentially informed in writing on Monday 26th March 2018 for the following categories: Best Song Musically and Lyrically, Best Contemporary Song, Album Award, Best Original Film Score, Best Television Soundtrack, Best Original Video Game Score and PRS for Music Most Performed Work.

BASCA will announce the nominations for the 2018 Ivor Novello Awards during the week commencing 30th April 2018.

The 63rd Ivor Novello Awards take place on Thursday 31st May 2018 at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London from 11.30am to 4.30pm.
